SLAP Tear Surgery and Recovery

This is a blog documenting my surgery and rehabilitation from a SLAP tear suffered in my left shoulder. The surgery took place on Thursday December 16th 2010 and the physical therapy appointments are expected to last 3-6 months and then another 6-9 months of home physical therapy. Total time from surgery to full recovery is about 1 year.

I am a 36 year old married father of 2 young boys (ages 1 and 2) from the Chicago area who has experienced a SLAP tear of my labrum and the fraying of my bicep muscle. This blog takes place from the first day of the confirmation of the tear hopefully through the end of rehab. The goal is to let other people with the same kind of injury know exactly what to expect of the surgery and recovery.
